Korean Air and Boeing announced plans to open Korea’s largest aviation training facility in order to expand aviation training capabilities in the country. Scheduled to open in 2015, the new campus will be located in Incheon’s Free Economic Zone and will provide 12 full-flight stimulators for pilot training programs. According to the 2013 Boeing Pilot & Technician Outlook, an industry forecast of aviation personnel demand, Korea and the Northeast Asia region will need approximately 18,500 new pilots and 25,500 technicians through 2032. “Boeing and Korean Air have a training relationship spanning almost 15 years,” said Sherry Carbary, vice president of Boeing Flight Services. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Korean Air as we together to develop advanced aviation training programs from a new base in Incheon.”
