The eighth annual Monte Carlo Jazz Festival kicks off Nov. 26 at Salle Garnier of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. The iconic jazz event welcomes prestigious artists and debuts new talent.
Artists taking the stage during the festival’s five-day run include Brad Mehldau and Mark Guiliana, who will debut their new creation “Mehliana,” Juan Carmona & Larry Coryell Quartet, and Marcus Miller with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.
On Nov. 28, John McLaughlin and Zakir Hussain celebrate 40 years of friendship and music with a performance by Remember Shakti.The reformation of one of the 1970s group is cornerstone event at this year’s festival. Nov. 29 is dedicated to the young talents of contemporary European jazz with featured performers including Italian pianist Raphael Gualazzi, pianist Eric Légnini and Kellylee Evans, a Canadian singer of Jamaican origin and a phenomenal voice of the new jazz generation.
