The Lobby Bar at One Aldwych, one of London’s most elegant addresses, is the setting for an Afternoon Tea inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Special menu treats created by executive chef Dominic Teague include coconut cream and mango golden egg, chocolate caramel milk, and candy floss with rhubarb and custard pear drops.
Not all the treats are chewy. Along with a selection of award-wining teas and infusions, there’s the option of Lallier Grand Reserve Champagne and the spectacular Cocktail Charlie, a blend of Dalmore Whiskey, Cherry Marnier, chocolate bitters and Champagne served, of course, with a selection of handmade chocolate truffles.
The specially themed tea is on offer through Sept. 2 to coincide with the production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on stage at the nearby Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Afternoon Tea is also a component of two special ticket packages: One Aldwych Stay & Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Afternoon Tea & Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Tea reservations are recommended.
