Emirates announced plans to boost its services to Switzerland with the start of a daily Airbus A380 service to Zürich from January 2014. The carrier will replace the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft it currently deploys between Dubai (DXB) and Zürich (ZRH) on flights EK087 and EK088 with the A380 double-decker aircraft, adding more than 1,100 weekly seats in each direction. The 517-seat A380 features 14 seats in first class, 76 in business class and 427 in economy. “The strategic decision to bring our flagship A380 to Zürich was made to support the city’s strong position as a financial services hub and center for a vast number of international companies,” said Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ executive vice president of passenger sales worldwide. The airline will continue to operate the second daily Zürich flight with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
