Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco

Arrival/Check-in: From SFO I took a cab to the Four Seasons in the Yerba Buena cultural district, an area only a short walk from Union Square and the Financial District. I made my way to the lobby, which is located on an upper floor. (There was plenty of staff available for direction.) Check-in was swift, and I was in my suite in a matter of minutes. With just a small roller bag, I did not need assistance from the friendly staff. (27/30)

Guest Quarters: My suite consisted of a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and the regular FS accoutrements, including a large armoire with a TV. A long hallway led from the door to the bedroom on the right and a beautiful living room at the end. I spent most of my time in the living room, which was painted a warm and inviting mustard yellow. A large sofa faced an entertainment center with a flat screen TV. A desk was adequate for using a laptop, with WiFi available for $12.95 per day. There was also a small dining table with chairs. Give me a kitchen and I could spend a week here!

The bedroom connected to a large bathroom with a large shower stall, tub and a double sink; a separate door led to the commode. The bedroom could be darkened for late sleeping, which unfortunately did not happen for me! (28/30)

Services/Amenities: I enjoyed lunch in Seasons, a casual, elegant restaurant specializing in seafood and prime cuts of meat — the Crab Louie salad was very tasty. Lunchtime was bustling with businesspeople and those just enjoying a lunch out. An 18-seat private dining room, Windows, is available by reservation. I also entertained clients in Seasons Bar and Lounge and enjoyed learning about the city from a few locals. Room service for breakfast was swift, prompt and piping hot. Missing was an in-room coffeemaker — my pet peeve — but this will change with upcoming renovations. (38/40)

The Experience: I had a great time in San Francisco, visiting Fisherman’s Wharf and gazing across to Alcatraz Island. From my room I could see the Museum of Modern Art. The Four Seasons offers a great location for dining and enjoying San Francisco sights.

Total Score: (93/100)
