Dinner at Il Gabbiano

by Darla Mossotti

Mar 25, 2026

On a recent work trip to Miami with the Global Traveler team, we wrapped up a full day of meetings with dinner at Il Gabbiano, set along Miami Riverwalk. Between the waterfront views and authentic, fresh Italian cuisine, it was exactly the kind of evening you hope for after a long day.

We requested an outdoor table, and the weather could not have been more perfect. Yachts drifted by as we sipped wine and settled in. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, starting us off with bruschetta while walking us through an impressive list of specials, each one more tempting than the last. By the time he finished, we all knew what we wanted. Honestly, I am not even sure we opened the menu.city

Francis X. Gallagher kicked things off with the Scampi alla Griglia and was clearly more than happy with his choice, while the rest of us went with Caesar salads to start. You could really taste the fresh garlic, which is never a bad thing.

For my entrée, I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass al Limone, served over zucchini. It was light, flavorful and perfectly prepared, easily making my personal top 10 meals list. Around the table, others ordered the Calamari in Umido, Lobster Ravioli and Risotto ai Frutti di Mare, and every dish got rave reviews.

It was one of those perfect nights: great food, flowing wine, beautiful views and even better company. Exactly what you want when business meets a little bit of pleasure.

Nature and Nordic Culture Ensure a Perfect Pace for Exploring Stockholm

Crowned the “Capital of Scandinavia,” Stockholm stands at the epicenter of modern Nordic movements that — much like their Viking forebears — have swept across the globe. From art to design to cuisine, the Swedish city entices business and leisure travelers alike. Also fitting for its Viking history: the capital’s waterfront positioning, situated across 14 islands where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea. For a country that infamously sees little sunshine in the winter months, outdoor pursuits remain popular year-round, from hiking to sailing to ice-skating.
