Long Beach Airport (LGB) in Southern California opened a new $45 million passenger concourse Wednesday, Dec. 12. Part of a $120-million renovation plan for the airport, the new concourse features two terminals, more than 10,000 square feet of new shops and restaurants and 4,200 square feet of outdoor seating. According to Airport Executive Director Mario Rodriguez, the new concourse was designed to “feel more or less like a high-end hotel,” with new décor like plush red seats, fire pits and a garden walkway. The airport also recently built a new parking garage. JetBlue executive Robert Land hopes the new amenities and accommodations “will put Long Beach back on the customer service map.” About 3 million passengers visit the Long Beach Airport annually for service from Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue and US Airways.
