Pubs aren’t the only thing to come alive in Ireland’s capital city come evening. Restaurants, seasonal events and nightclubs characterize a Dublin night both vibrant and energetic. In fact, many Americans and Europeans flock to Dublin specifically for its nightlife.
Live music is inextricably linked to the city, and various mid-range venues host bands and musicians year-round, such as Vicar Street and Whelan’s. For global performers, Dublin Docklands often draws crowds. You’ll find traditional Irish music, as well, particularly in older pubs like Oliver St. John Gogarty; The Brazen Head; and The Celt, where you can sip refreshing pints while enjoying the flute, fiddle, tin whistle, accordion and guitar.
Boasting a staggering 772 pubs, Dublin features no shortage of spaces to indulge in a drink. The ever-popular Temple Bar draws many for its lively atmosphere; however, various lesser-known pubs promise cheaper pints with just as good a crowd. Many other classic Irish pubs line O’Connell Street, Parnell Street and Abbey Street.
As night draws on, nightclubs and music bars open their doors. Copper Face Jacks, Dicey’s and The Black Door comprise only some of these spirited venues. The Black Door transports guests to Georgian times with a gilded baby grand piano at the center, where tunes play all evening long. Younger visitors seeking upbeat music and cool lights will love Copper Face Jacks, spanning several floors, each unique. While the drinking age in Ireland is 18 years old, some clubs only let guests aged 21 or 25 and over in, so be sure to look up your desired venue ahead of time.
For good eats look to Ryleigh’s, a rooftop steakhouse with unbeatable city and river views, or WILDE Restaurant, a 1930s-inspired eatery blending traditional dining with the best of Irish ingredients.
Dublin doesn’t just celebrate its LGBTQIA+ population during Pride month (although the city does throw a grand Pride Parade each June); the city is home to some popular LGBTQIA+ bars and festivals, including The George bar and The Voodoo Lounge. Dublin also hosts the International Gay Theatre Festival.
Don’t leave Dublin without some good purchases. Grafton Street, perhaps Dublin’s most iconic street, teems with high-end stores, cafés (including ornate Bewley’s), restaurants and bars. Buskers entertain on the street at all hours, ensuring Dublin never lacks a good tune.

May 30, 2025By-the-cabin Yachting Redefines the Cruise Experience
I wish this day could last forever!” my windswept 9-year-old exclaimed, his voice soaring over the Mediterranean. He gripped the helm of a Bali 4.6 sailing catamaran off the coast of Marseille, his sun- bleached hair whipping in the salty breeze. The scent of the sea mingled with the aroma of warm baguettes drifting from the Côte d’Azur shoreline. Our captain, a seasoned sailor, subtly adjusted course, letting my son feel the exhilarating pull of the wind against the sails. As the waves lapped against the hull, I realized this was no ordinary vacation — this was freedom, unfiltered.
