Patagonia Glaciers & Wildlife

Puerto Madryn acts as the gateway to the Patagonia region and explorations of the Valdes Peninsula Nature Reserve, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site for being one of the world’s prime whale migration hot spots. Make a landing in the rarely visited Port Stanley, famous for its signature landmark, the whalebone arch. Among the Captain’s Choice landings on this expedition, you may explore Punta Arenas and its UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve Torres del Paine. Another possible landing may be the enchanting blue ice shelf of Garibaldi Glacier, sitting amid the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Alberto de Agostini National Park. Navigating Glacier Alley, your Captain may bring you to highlights such as the Pía, Pío XI, Porter and Romanche glaciers.

Highlights of the trip

  • An extraordinary encounter awaits you at the sea lion sanctuary of Punta Loma from Puerto Madryn. Continue to Estancia San Guillermo to gain insights into the art of sheep shearing through an engaging demonstration.
  • Delve into the breathtaking landscapes, rich fauna and vibrant flora of the Falkland Islands. Watch in awe as endemic and rare birds gracefully take flight and keep an eye out for majestic predators and elegant seabirds.

Day 1–3

DAY 1: Montevideo, Uruguay
Your journey begins with Champagne and gourmet canapés during a meet and greet as you embark on an epic adventure.

DAY 2–3: At Sea
Get to know the expert expedition team who will guide you on your adventures and brief you on safety protocols for your explorations. Enjoy gourmet dining with ever-changing menus and unlimited beverages, including fine wines, spirits and craft beers as you eagerly anticipate your arrival in a wildlife haven.

Day 4–8

DAY 4: Puerto Madryn, Argentina
Venture into the UNESCO-listed Península Valdes with a visit to Estancia San Lorenzo, home to an enchanting colony of more than 2,000 Magellanic penguins. This excursion also brings you to a traditional Patagonian barbecue after your awe-inspiring encounter.

DAY 5–6: At Sea
By now, you may have made some new friends with adventurous spirits like yourself. Gather at Atlas Lounge for cocktails and game night or take the party to The Dome observation lounge for an evening of lively entertainment from the talented pianist. Sit in on fascinating lectures and presentations from the expedition team at Dom Henrique auditorium.

DAY 7: Port Stanley, Falkland Islands — Captain’s Choice
Take a 4×4 ride with a seasoned driver who will take you and your fellow explorers to Newans Station, home of approximately 200 breeding pairs of Gentoo penguins. Observe their captivating behaviors and revel in the natural beauty of your surroundings.

CAPTAIN’S CHOICE — Your Captain will expertly navigate ice floes, icebergs, and changing sea and weather conditions to ensure you experience the most from your expedition. Each day is a new adventure filled with a spontaneous sense of exploration as your Captain works with our expedition team to determine possible shore landings and Zodiac safaris. All itinerary routes serve as examples and are subject to change based on current conditions, prioritizing the safety and optimal expedition experience for all guests.

DAY 8: At Sea
Take in the horizon from Water’s Edge in comfort with heated seating. As you watch the sea line from just 30 feet above, an expedition team member may call out marine life sightings for a moment of pure wonder.

DAY 9: Punta Arenas, Chile — Captain’s Choice
Experience one of the world’s most captivating places with an abundance of natural treasures. The fjords and channels are celebrated for their natural beauty of glacial and mountainous scenery. Spot majestic condors soaring overhead.

Day 10–11

DAY 10: Garibaldi Glacier, Chile & Glacier Alley — Captain’s Choice
Amid the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Alberto de Agostini National Park sits the enchanting blue ice shelf of Garibaldi Glacier. Famous for its mesmerizing color, it’s a life-changing sight that will inspire a sense of awe and wonder.

Journeying through Glacier Alley amid the Chilean Fjords, you navigate icy waters with vistas of snow-capped peaks and dark green forests. Considered highlights, Pía and Pío XI glaciers inspire a sense of wonder with their sheer size. There’s a chance you may witness the ice calving.

DAY 11: Ushuaia, Argentina
As you say goodbye to new friends, your FREE private charter jet service will take you back to Buenos Aires for your flight home. Although your incredible expedition through Patagonia and Chilean Fjords has come to an end, you can choose to extend your journey with an optional land program exploring the highlights of Buenos Aires for three days and two nights.
