Royal Caribbean International cancels additional visits to Labadee, the cruise line’s private destination in Haiti, for the next few weeks. The cruise line suspended visits to the destination in early March and decided to continue the suspension on March 22 due to unrest in the country.
Royal Caribbean cruises through at least mid-April are slated to be impacted. Alternative destinations will include Falmouth, Jamaica; Perfect Day at CocoCay; Grand Cayman; Bimini; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; and St. Maarten.
Many Royal Caribbean ships dock at Labadee, including Symphony of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas, Adventure of the Seas and Allure of the Seas.
The U.S. State Department has previously issued travel alerts for Haiti, marking the country as a Level 4: Do Not Travel due to “kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure.”
