Over the weekend, my friends and I went to Libertee Grounds, an indoor mini golf place in Philadelphia. We had a reservation; so while we waited for our tee time, we ordered some drinks and appetizers. We each picked an appetizer and decided to share everything. We ended up with Bavarian pretzel bites, pan-seared gyoza, wings and cheesesteak spring rolls — all delicious!
Once it was our time to tee off, we headed over to pick out our ball color and putters. Recently, Libertee opened nine new holes, and that’s where we started. The course wasn’t that crowded, so we breezed through the first nine; but when we went downstairs for the last nine, there was a little bit of a back-up, so we ordered more drinks and waited for our turn. It took us a little longer to get through these, but there were games like corn hole, darts and Jenga we could play in between.
Upstairs, each hole had something to do with Philadelphia. One had keg taps of different Philadelphia-made beers; one had to do with SEPTA; another had Gritty, the Philadelphia Flyers mascot; and one featured Broad Street. Downstairs, the holes were a little plainer, but the course spelled out “Philly.”
I played well in the beginning — I even got two hole-in-ones in a row — but then I started to get a little frustrated and ended up in last place. Even though I came in last place, I still had a good time and can’t wait to go back.
