It has been quite a busy summer with vacations and business trips all around. I ended summer with a trip to Dallas to attend the Global Business Travel Association convention, preceded by a meeting in Chicago with award-winning Chicago O’Hare International Airport and United MileagePlus.

After Chicago, I tested the summer weather and flew from ORD to SRQ for a few days to check on our Sarasota office. From there I jumped on connecting flights to Dallas to attend GBTA and host our event to honor the winners of The Trazees, as voted by the readers of trazeetravel.com, our platform for 25- to 40-year-old travelers, in its ninth year. It was also an honor to present the Industry Leaders Awards (announced in the August 2023 issue). All is good everywhere, and I look forward to more exciting trips this fall.
My September is jam-packed with an engagement party to plan at my home welcoming the Gallagher and Ogando families to an elegant backyard shindig. We’ve had fun arranging for the tents, catering and band as well as welcoming family and friends to celebrate the nuptials. I’ll also spend a few days in New York as we celebrate our anniversary; we plan to paint the town red with Broadway shows, museums and great restaurants.
Toward the end of September GT will host a VIP gathering for top United MileagePlus members at the beautiful Pierre Hotel in New York. Can’t share the date, as this is a hush-hush, posh-posh event for the membership. Last year we hosted the event at The Peninsula Chicago, a favorite of many on the FXExpress staff.
Let’s not forget fall weddings, including that of my nephew and the daughter of Advisory Board member Carlos Cappuccio. Of course, I lined up some golf, including the Turkish Airlines golf outing in New York at Inwood Country Club, where you can see wide-bodies from all over the world landing at JFK. Aviation mixed with golf … does it get any better for us nerds?
We’re looking forward to the Global Traveler-hosted AmaWaterways Danube River cruise in early October on its flagship AmaMagna — complete with the only pickleball court on a river cruise. We still have some cabins available if you wish to join us. Lucky you to spend seven days with FXG!
