At 262 feet, MS Porto Mirante will boast an atrium bar and lounge, a restaurant, a fitness center, sun deck, sky lounge and splash pool. The ship will hold 118 passengers across 59 cabins, spanning Diamond, Ruby and Emerald category types. All cabins feature double beds that can be converted to two twin beds, a bathroom with rain shower, desk with chair, flat-screen TV, air-conditioning controls, a coffeemaker and more.

“Our only itinerary on the Douro River has grown to become one of our most popular cruises, so we’re launching a new ship and a new itinerary to keep up with demand there,” said Marilyn Conroy, executive vice president sales and marketing North America, Riviera River Cruises. “The stylish new MS Porto Mirante will take guests through the stunning heart of the winelands along the river, with excursions led by local experts who offer fascinating insight into the destinations we visit. And, as on all our 2024 river cruises, guests will enjoy our new Superior drinks package free of charge.”

Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.
