This summer, Monaco hosts an array of exciting events for both visitors and locals to enjoy. Its location on the Riviera already makes it a hot spot for summer travelers, but the lineup of upcoming events will see even more visitors flock to the region. From sporting events to art exhibitions to food festivals, Monaco offers a summer packed with both new and beloved and returning experiences.
Monaco lures sports enthusiasts each year, and this year is no exception. The Palermo-Montecarlo, one of the most important regattas in the Mediterranean, takes place Aug. 19–24. Not too long after, Monaco Yacht Show hits the seas, showcasing superyachts available for charter and purchase, Sept. 29–Oct. 1.

Summer is time to show off new seasonal trends in the fashion world. One Monte-Carlo offers 53 luxury shops, including Prada, Fendi and Boucheron, as well as high-end residences and trendy restaurants. Eateries like Mada One, a chi-chi bistro, welcomes visitors this summer to indulge in good Mediterranean cuisine.
Monaco not only offers destinations and experiences for food lovers and fashionistas; the Monte-Carlo Summer Festival invites lovers of the arts to enjoy some of the festival’s huge music acts like Alicia Keys, James Blunt and Christina Aguilera. The Monte-Carlo Summer Festival runs throughout July and August.
In addition to the Monte-Carlo Summer Festival, Monaco also hosts summer-long performances at historic Fort Antoine. The 18th-century fortress, now an open-air theater, hosts outdoor performances all summer.

Monaco’s summer blockbuster art exhibition, at Grimaldi Forum, focuses on fashion icon Christian Louboutin. This exhibition showcases the designer’s many interests, bringing together items from his personal collection, as well as historic and artistic works borrowed from public and private collections. The exhibition explores themes of dance and the legacy of the Ballets Russes, African and Asian art and Andy Warhol’s pop influence. The legendary Louboutin shoes will also make an appearance at the exhibition.
Through July 4, Le Meridien Beach Plaza Hotel debuts Un Rêve de Pureté, an exhibition by Claude Gauthier honoring the friendship between Monaco and France. The Audiovisual Institute of Monaco welcomes guests to its exhibition, Cinémato!, through Dec. 30. This exhibition centers around Albert I of Monaco, a pioneer of sound and image.
