3-day, 2-night itinerary

One with Nature in the Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands comprise three small landmasses. There are plenty of ways to explore the islands where natural beauty abounds. From sparkling caves to dolphin encounters, fill three days on the Cayman Islands.

Highlights of the trip

  • Explore unique features like crystal caves and limestone formations
  • Indulge in the island’s food culture
  • Glimpse rare birds like the frigate bird and West Indian Whistling Duck
  • Explore untouched nature in the middle of the Caribbean.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive on Grand Cayman and explore the nature of East Grand Cayman
Day 2 Explore West Grand Cayman
Day 3 Visit Little Cayman

Day 1

Grand Cayman is home to myriad sites for exploring. One of the most famous is Cayman Crystal Caves. The caves have guided tours so there is no possibility of getting lost along the way. To the south of the cave system, go on a hike through the Mastic Trail, which runs through a protected forest filled with indigenous life. This is a great opportunity to take in everything the island has to offer. Your next stop brings you to the island’s south side. The Blowholes are easily accessible natural wonders worth seeing.

Day 2

The west side of Grand Cayman is much more concentrated than the east. There are more beaches and conservation and cultural centers on this side of the island. Start your day with a visit to Kittiwake Shipwreck and Artificial Reef. The wreck helped facilitate the growth of an artificial reef and tourists are always flocking to the site to swim and snorkel. After the reef, go to Hell, Grand Cayman. Hell is a unique collection of limestone formations. You can’t walk on the limestone, but there are plenty of viewing platforms. Finally, go to George Town and join a food tour by Cayman Food Tours for a true taste of the island.

Day 3

Little Cayman is the least-developed of the three Caymans and is worth at least a day exploring the mostly untouched nature. Your first stop is Little Cayman Museum. This small museum offers context to the island and runs through the island’s history. The museum is in Blossom Village on the southern point. Go to Booby Pond Nature Reserve, a haven for rare and endangered plants and animals. Rare birds you might see include the West Indian Whistling Duck and the Frigate Bird. End the day with a trip to Sparrowhawk Hill, one of the best sites for bird watching in all of the Cayman Islands.

Williamsburg Inn Review

You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.
