Travel in any capacity can quickly get expensive. Add in international flights, and the costs can really begin to mount.
An online email subscription service, Scott’s Cheap Flights, released its findings regarding which airports are the best, and worst, for finding cheap international flights. The service used the amount of deal alerts it sent to subscribers during the calendar year to determine its rankings.
Before sending out an alert, a deal needs to reach the organization’s standards; it won’t send flights with inconvenient layovers, flights on certain budget airlines including Spirit or Frontier, or flights with questionable routing.
The study only includes commercial airports in metropolitan areas serving more than 1 million people.
The No. 1 airport for cheap international flights is John F. Kennedy International Airport. In 2018, the service sent out 436 cheap flight alerts for the airport. The airport received about 20 percent more alerts than the No. 2 ranking airport. LAX ranks No. 2, Chicago O’Hare International Airport ranks sixth and Washington-Dulles International Airport comes in eighth.
The worst airport for international flights, according to Scott’s Cheap Flights, is the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina.
