China Southern Airlines started a codeshare with Emirates June 27 on its daily Guangzhou–Dubai route.
China Southern flies each day between the two cities. The outbound flight departs from Guangzhou at 7:05 p.m., before arriving in Dubai at 11:20 p.m. The return leg leaves Dubai at 1 a.m., and lands back in Guangzhou at 12:35 p.m.. The airline uses its 309-seater Boeing 777-300ER with seats in four classes, including four “semi-box style” seats in first class, 34 business class, 44 premium economy and 277 economy class.
The Dubai to Guangzhou operated by Emirates is scheduled to leave Dubai at 10:20 a.m., and lands at Guangzhou at 10:05 p.m., while the return flight is a red-eye departing from Guangzhou at 12:15 a.m., before arriving in Dubai at 4:25 a.m. Emirates uses a three-class Airbus A380 aircraft on this route.
The new agreement means the airlines effectively have two daily flights each between Guangzhou and Dubai. Codeshares help passengers book an itinerary with different airlines in a single booking, allowing for streamlined travel and luggage transfers.
China Southern is Emirates’ first codeshare partner in China.
