There are many attractions in Thailand, from temples and museums to the Royal Palace and stunning beaches, but do not miss the wonderful rooftop sky bars at these four hotels in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya.
Together with INNSiDE at the Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit hotel, this venue offers a transparent infinity pool and a giant swing bar commanding hotel’s 34th floor. Nestled between bar and pool, the swing is a compelling contemporary interpretation of Bangkok’s Brahman structure. The Giant Swing Pool Bar becomes an upper-floor extension of LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar on the 33rd floor, with the giant swing bar making for a dramatic photo backdrop. Adjacent to the infinity pool is an expansive rooftop terrace, dotted with outdoor lounges and sunbeds, which evokes an Ibiza mood accompanied with panoramic vistas.
There is also a bar on the 33rd floor of INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit at LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar. The open-air pool bar serves Mediterranean, Thai and international snacks and dishes such as INNSiDE’s burger and imaginative cocktails. By night, the pool bar becomes an upper-floor extension of the hotel’s 33rd floor LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar. A great spectacle in Bangkok, tapas bar guests can peer into the bottom of the infinity pool.
At SO/ Bangkok hotel, the new Iris & Wild Iris sky bars offer a restaurant on the 29th floor overlooking Lumpini Park and Bangkok’s city skyline. The venue introduces a French Riviera-inspired concept balancing a relaxed daytime setting with a more animated evening atmosphere.
The name Iris & Wild Iris reflects two complementary moods; Iris presents a calm and composed dining environment, while Wild Iris introduces a more energetic tone as the evening progresses. The menu is inspired by French, Italian and Spanish cuisines, accompanied by a large wine selection and a range of house cocktails.
Iris & Wild Iris is arranged across three connected spaces, with Iris offering an indoor dining area and an outdoor seating area, and Wild Iris functioning as a rooftop bar. Live DJ performances take place in the evenings, contributing to the venue’s atmosphere.
Less than two hours from Bangkok by car, perched on the 12th floor of Meliá Pattaya Hotel, Yitong Chinese Restaurant & Sky Bar in Pattaya makes for a chic rooftop space boasting sweeping views of the Gulf of Thailand alongside imaginative cocktails. One of the most sophisticated rooftop bars in Thailand, it offers an elevated dining experience featuring wellness-focused Cantonese cuisine, with unlimited dim sum. Upstairs, Sky Bar opens onto a lush rooftop with cocktails, stunning views and stars that linger all night.
Some of the cocktails, like Kuaile De, are composed of gin infused with goji berry, honey, lemon juice and topped with cava, while Chun Hou are created with brandy, orange curacao, lime juice, rosella tea and rose syrup. Yitong’s even offers a Chill & Cheers Escape stay promotion that includes a welcome cocktail at Yitong Sky Bar.
For guests staying at 5-Star Meliá Pattaya Hotel, Level Lounge is available daily. The Lounge is an elegant and distinguished space reserved exclusively for Level guests, offering a calm ambience and serving exquisite breakfast until 11 a.m. and cocktails and aperitifs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
For guests visiting Chiang Mai, in northern Thailand, Melia Chiang Mai has a 360-degree rooftop bar named MAI The Sky Bar. This space has sweeping views of Ping River to the city’s east and famed Doi Suthep Temple on the mountaintop to the west. Located on the 22nd floor, the bar features rooftop terraces at varying heights, with a spectacular glass bridge connecting the bar’s highest seating areas.
Surrounded by glass balustrades that give way to stunning views of Chiang Mai at sunset, the bar’s entertainment includes live bands and DJs. Drawing on Meliá’s Spanish roots, the hotel’s cuisine serves a variety of tapas and pinchos, grazing boards and desserts. Mixologists craft a selection of beverages and cocktails referencing Chiang Mai’s forests and mountains.

I was surprised to learn Denmark consistently ranks among the world’s happiest countries. Sure, Scandinavia is lovely, but that Nordic weather hardly seemed conducive to soaring serotonin levels. When I finally visited Copenhagen, it all made sense. Whether you’re a fashionista, a Michelin-star chaser, a Viking history buff or just a curious traveler, the Danish capital promises an endless feast.
