Nova Star Cruises — a cruise ferry service between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Portland, Maine — launched special Wine Experience and Education seminars on voyages on the Nova Star to provide insight about the award-winning wines the region produces and offer guests tasting and critiquing sessions. Sommelier Bill Foster leads the weekly wine event on Sundays in Nova Star’s upscale restaurant, Currents. In addition to wine sampling, guests have the opportunity to learn more about and sample craft beer produced in Maine and Nova Scotia during the event.
“Nova Scotia is truly an up-and-coming wine destination with seven distinct regions that are producing award-winning wines,” said Hanspeter Stutz, president and CEO, Grand Pre Wines Ltd. Stutz also provides wine-tasting presentations on board the Nova Star. “Introducing the wines to guests sailing on the beautiful Nova Star is not only enjoyable for them, it’s a great way for them to learn about an emerging industry in the country they are going to visit.”
In addition to accommodations for 700 passengers, the new Nova Star cruise ferry vessel features fine dining venues, a retail store, a children’s play area and a spa.
