Daily

Set your sights on Australia this year as Queensland prepares to welcome some neat hotels and experiences in 2024. In fact, it’s easier than ever to reach the region thanks to a new, non-stop American Airlines flight from Dallas (DFW) to Brisbane (BNE) beginning this October.

Pelorus Private Island

Opened in January, Pelorus Private Island, a single, sprawling residence with four luxurious suites, is accessible only by helicopter or private yacht. Stay amongst pristine habitat and coral gardens.

Ardo Townsville

This sister property to Pelorus opened last December and marks Townsville’s first 5-star waterfront hotel. The 132-room hotel includes two restaurants, a day spa, rooftop pool and bar, and views of Magnetic Island.

Elandra Mission Beach

Also opened last December, Queensland’s newest boutique luxury resort overlooks the Coral Sea. Featuring 20 villas, a dozen two-story apartments and one pool deck, Elandra Mission Beach shows off its multimillion-dollar upgrades. The resort also includes a restaurant, bar and event venue.

Queen’s Wharf

Coming this August, Queen’s Wharf along Brisbane City’s waterfront brings exciting new restaurants, bars and even a hotel to the area. In fact, Queen’s Wharf will soon be home to the 6-star Rosewood Hotel, the brand’s first Australian property, as well as Dorsett Brisbane and The Star Grand.

Cunnamulla Hot Springs

Queensland’s newest artesian baths destination opened this January in the Australian Outback. Set along the Warrego River, visitors can soak in one of seven hot-spring pools filled with water from the Great Artesian Basin, one of the world’s largest and deepest underground freshwater sources. Here, local Indigenous groups host food and storytelling events in the gardens surrounding the springs.

Lady Musgrave Experience

Debuting this April, this innovative research platform in the Southern Great Barrier Reef offers some of the most rewarding and low-impact opportunities. Visitors can directly contribute to reef conservation through activities like experiential learning, data collection, marine-biologist-for-a-day programs, guided snorkel safaris, coral adoption and transplanting, and reef health surveys.

Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh Review

Phnom Penh as we imagined it stretches beneath us: a picturesque, low-rise mix of Southeast Asian and French Colonial styles. When the inhabitants of those buildings look back at us here in the Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Chip Mong Tower, they see the future.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips. From Piraeus port, you can access Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros directly. Come explore these stunning islands with us and find the inspiration to plan your next trip to these islands. Hydra Hydra town curves around a slope overlooking the Argosaronic Gulf like an amphitheater and is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Most unique to the island is its lack of vehicles. People on the island get around on mules and donkeys as well as water taxis, making for a peaceful and laid-back day. Hydra lies a two-hour ferry ride from Piraeus port in Athens.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
