Heading to Switzerland’s dynamic capital city this summer? Don’t miss the Rundfunk.fm Radio Festival. Through Sept. 6, it’s plenty of music, local food favorites and great drinks in the courtyard of National Museum, near the city’s main transport station. An annual summer event, this live radio festival kicks into gear every day at 5 p.m. with national and international DJs filling the air with tunes.
Each Friday this summer from 8 to 10 p.m., the popular WOW Museum hosts Chillusion Nights for persons aged 16 and up. The museum’s collection of remarkable effects will make you question the validity of your senses through a combination of immersive art, science and technology-based optical illusions. The museum’s three floors are home to 12 themed rooms and the Wonder Lab’s collection of mind-bending deceptions.
Where to stay? Consider brand-new Mama Shelter hotel, the first in Switzerland. You’ll find 178 guestrooms and a fun, urban design that includes chocolate bar-patterned floor coverings, free movies, organic skincare products and seats that suggest logs. For dining, there’s Mama Restaurant and Mama’s Garden, a summer-only terrace. Located near the train station in the business district, the new hotel also offers meeting and event space with a break room boasting a giant carousel laden with desserts, coffee, drinks and other tasty options.
Stay up late and head to spots along the lakefront, river and scattered city locations to enjoy Cinemas Under the Stars. Celebrating a local tradition dating to 1932 when a city film theater (then the Roxy, now the Metropol) was fitted with a sliding roof that could be opened to the skies during fine weather, this fun summer activity includes new releases, classic films and major blockbusters. In the morning, sleep in and then treat yourself to breakfast at newly opened Café Irma. Located at Zweierstrasse 55 and open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday–Sunday, the café serves up fresh breads and pastries, plus baked, plant-based breakfast classics; cool smoothies; and hot drinks.

May 6, 2026Parkhotel Oberhausen Review
Oberhausen, on the Ruhr River at the outskirts of Essen, is not merely a city transformed — it is wholly repurposed. In the late 19th and 20th centuries, its main industries were coal mining, iron and steel production, and manufacturing. Today, it is defined by its intentional evolutionary path toward a green, 21st-century city tailored for a healthier and more outdoorsy standard of living. What makes it a particularly compelling choice for a meeting or conference destination is it doesn’t hide its past. Instead, it shows how a municipality can use what’s there to move toward a more environmentally sound future.

Apr 30, 2026Malta’s Sun-Soaked Harbors, Soulful Cuisine Captivate the Young and Young at Heart
Malta cast its spell before I even set foot on shore. From the deck of my cruise ship, I watched Valletta’s fortified limestone walls emerge from the sea, glowing gold against the blue. But no matter how you get there, Malta beguiles once you arrive. And beyond its Baroque architecture and complex history, this archipelago between Sicily and the North African coast has a lot to offer business travelers and their companions, both during working hours and downtime.
