With the 2034 Winter Olympic Games on the calendar, there is nowhere for Park City tourism to go but up. A myriad of 5-star luxury hotels have or are in the process of springing to life in Deer Valley and the Canyons Developments also answer the call with residential units for those who want to invest and make their presence in the Park City area a little more permanent.

Although there is nothing wrong with these glamorous new addresses, Westgate Park City Resort, at the heart of Canyons Village at Park City Mountain Resort, offers what general manager Clay Zellermayer describes as a “middle ground between luxury and four-star practicality.” It checks the boxes for buyers and renters opting for convenience; a down-to-earth vibe; family-friendly accommodations; and easy access to area dining, shopping and recreation highlights. Residential units are done up in a style fusing modern minimalism, mountain craftsman-inspired architectural elements and ski lodge sensibilities with an amber-hued palette.

The Bison and Moose Lodges span 201 real estate ownership units and include 360-square-foot studios and one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom suites outfitted with full kitchens, gas fireplaces and bathrooms with spa-inspired fixtures and flooring, some furnished with private balconies or wrap-around decks. Other built-in, on-property advantages include ski-in/ski-out access to Canyons Village, ski valet, lockers, a storage area with private elevator access, indoor/outdoor water park, and community events such as concerts and festivals. The complex also boasts Utah’s largest indoor-outdoor pool, a heated yoga room with a broad array of classes, and a kids’ club and arcade.

Westgate’s two main restaurants, Drafts Burger Bar (a sports bar with imaginative comfort food and a fun menu to show it off) and multi-award-winning Edge Steakhouse, are open to the public but offer residents discounts of 15–25 percent off, depending on a tenant’s loyalty tier. Edge is regarded as the gold standard of Utah steakhouses. Under the direction of chef Wayne E. Christian, the kitchen team is wholly committed to making classic steakhouse appetizers, sides, main courses, and desserts deliciously unpredictable with subtle Asian and Southwestern twists. Beyond a wall that puts the prolific, award-winning wine list into a visual context, its aesthetic extends to its cozy outdoor patio, offset with rentable “Alpenglobe” outdoor dining pods.

The 30,000-square-foot full-service Serenity Spa also offers resident discounts for services, while management projects its neighboring fitness center will have new equipment later this summer. An impressive yoga class menu, meanwhile, will return for the winter season. Attentive staff and accomplished practitioners administer customized sports and relaxation massages, facials and body/skin treatments from its extensive menu.

Westgate is conceived for year-round living and welcomes non-skiers, including golf enthusiasts wanting to try their luck at Canyons Golf’s 18-hole, par-70 alpine layout.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.
