Virtuoso, the global network of luxury travel agencies, recently expanded its Hotels & Resorts program, adding 95 new properties in 2015, bringing the portfolio to more than 1,100 hotels in 100 countries. The program offers exclusive benefits worth up to $450 per stay that are only available through a Virtuoso travel advisor.
According to Virtuoso, here are five trends shaping hotels in 2016.
Larger Suites and Villas
As multigenerational travel continues to grow in popularity, larger accommodation options are in demand, like the 11-bedroom suite opening this year at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman.
Experience That Create A Sense Of Place
Hotels and resorts can offer an array of experiences unique to their home destinations, such as concerts at Schloss Elmau, a Bavarian castle, and private coffee tastings at El Silencia Lodge & Spa in Costa Rica.
Lifestyle Hotels
Millennials are creating a new world in luxury travel, and Virtuoso appeals to the demographic with hotels from Andaz and W Hotels.
Virtuoso Preview
The network’s six-year-old Preview program supports properties from luxury brands during their pre-opening or re-opening phase and debut.
Broadening Global Appeal
Virtuoso also expanded its travel agencies in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, as well as growing its presence in Europe to meet increasing global appeal, as well as inviting properties in burgeoning destinations to join the network.

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling
The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips. From Piraeus port, you can access Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros directly. Come explore these stunning islands with us and find the inspiration to plan your next trip to these islands. Hydra Hydra town curves around a slope overlooking the Argosaronic Gulf like an amphitheater and is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Most unique to the island is its lack of vehicles. People on the island get around on mules and donkeys as well as water taxis, making for a peaceful and laid-back day. Hydra lies a two-hour ferry ride from Piraeus port in Athens.

I am looking out at Vietnam’s largest city from the country’s tallest building. Sitting in a comfortable chair facing the floor-to-ceiling window, I have taken in the view in daylight and darkness at dusk and dawn. It’s ever-changing and always hypnotic.
