United Airlines announced a new daily, non-stop service between its Houston (IAH) hub and Sydney (SYD), beginning Jan. 18, 2018 — the airline’s second-longest flight following its Los Angeles (LAX)–Singapore (SIN) launch.

The new flight will be the only non-stop service to Australia from Houston; the airline currently serves Sydney from its West Coast hubs in Los Angeles and San Francisco (SFO). Together with its Singapore services, United will fly the three longest flights by a U.S. carrier.

This new route will serve more than 70 cities across North America making one-stop service to Sydney faster and more convenient than ever before.”

The new flight will depart Houston at 8 p.m., arriving in Sydney at 6:30 a.m. two days later. The return will depart Sydney at 11:50 a.m., arriving in Houston at 10:35 a.m. the same day.

The airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will service the flight, with 252 seats — 48 flat-bed seats in United Polaris, 63 Economy Plus seats and 141 seats in United Economy.
