United Airlines recently announced the approval of 24 additional gates at Denver International Airport. United plans to grow its Denver hub from 500 daily flights to as many as 700 by 2025. The additional gates are part of the airport’s $1.5 billion concourse expansion and are planned for Concourses A and B. United will add a new United Club on Concourse A, as well as expand existing United Clubs at the airport.
“These additional gates will take the starring role Denver plays in our growth strategy to a new level. It will mean more seats, more connections and more destinations as Denver continues to extend the global reach of its businesses and communities. This growth complements the investments we make in key infrastructure, such as the Western Hemisphere’s largest flight training center at Denver International Airport, and in local communities, because Denver is not just a hub, it feels like home for so many of us in the United family,” said Oscar Munoz, CEO, United Airlines.
United added more than 100 flights and 40 new destinations to its Denver hub over the last five years. The airline achieved better on-time performance over the last 59 months than its top competitor at the airport. United also experienced fewer cancellations at the airport over the last two years than Denver’s second-largest airline, though United operates double the flights.
Marketing research company MMGY Travel Intelligence and nonprofit organization Destinations International Foundation recently released findings of a survey regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on North American destination organizations. The survey was conducted in two parts: March 4–8 and March 16–22. Employees of city, region and state destination organizations in North America completed the survey.
