Airlines are taking an aggressive approach to disinfecting airplanes in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
Delta Air Lines’ check-in kiosks, ticket counters, gate areas, jet bridges, off-site check-ins, Need Help Centers and Baggage Service Offices are being wiped down with disinfectant multiple times a day.
All Delta customer service areas are increasing cleaning schedules and making supplies readily available to agents for spot or more frequent cleaning. Delta is giving hand sanitizer to agents working at ticket counters, gates, Sky Zones, Need Help Centers and Baggage Service Offices.
Sky Club operations have been consolidated, shower service discontinued and food and beverage scaled back. In addition, the airline is also cleaning Sky Clubs throughout the day and sanitizing them each night using hospital-grade disinfectant confirmed to kill the COVID-19 virus.
Many Delta planes have state-of-the-art air circulation systems combining fresh outside air sterilized with a high-temperature compressor and ozone purifier, with existing cabin air recirculated through an industrial-grade HEPA filter.
United Airlines said most of its planes also have HEPA filters and circulation systems similar to those found in hospitals, which remove up to 99.7 percent of airborne particles.
The airline is also disinfecting common surfaces in terminals, providing hand sanitizer for employees in crew and break rooms, in lounges and at gates. For passengers requiring a wheelchair, the airline is wiping down all touch points, including push bar, brake handle, armrests, seat cushion and foot bar after every use. Each day, it sprays a sanitizing disinfectant on all surfaces.
The small colonial town of Valladolid in the center of the Yucatan peninsula is easy to see in a day or two, but when you’re not roaming the streets, snapping photos of the brightly colored houses and buildings, swimming in the nearby cenote or admiring the architecture of the 16th-century convent of San Bernardino de Siena, consider passing time in the multipurpose Hostería del Marqués, a hotel that offers more than just lodging.
United Airlines’ environmentally friendly efforts lessen the impact on local U.S. communities.
Munich Airport is prepared for increased air traffic and passenger numbers with an extensive package of measures to protect against infection. The new rules of conduct will be made known through regular announcements, posters, video screens and an increased staff presence. Cleaning frequency will also increase and in areas where passengers linger. HIKING ALONG A PATH THROUGH THE FOREST, the only sounds I heard were the wind rustling through the leaves, the flow of a distant waterfall and, from time to time, the soft sounds of chatter from the others in my group. Missing were the sounds of traffic rushing by, car horns and the din of the everyday world in which most of us live. On this part of the Japan Hiking – Kumano Kodo & Nakasendo trip with REI Adventures, just the eight of us were on the trail, not another human in sight. An eco-adventure at its best, and it was glorious.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy, small businesses create two-thirds of net new jobs and account for nearly 48 percent of the U.S. private sector workforce. And small- and medium-sized businesses outpace all other sectors as one of the fastest-growing in the United States. InterContinental® Hotels Group (IHG) goes above and beyond to create opportunities for this segment with its IHG® Business Edge program, voted Best Small- to Mid-Sized Business Program in Global Traveler’s 2019 GT Tested Reader Survey awards.
Iceland’s otherworldly landscape made the perfect backdrop for the beloved Game of Thrones, which did some filming here. Iceland’s angry volcanoes, unbridled seas, ubiquitous rainbows, explosive geysers, waterfalls, glaciers, lava fields and jaw-dropping Northern Lights make it like no destination on earth.
