Both United Airlines and American Airlines released last week that they will once again offer complimentary snacks to their economy-class passengers.
American Airlines passengers can expect to receive Biscoff cookies on all transcontinental flights departing before 9:45 a.m. This includes routes between New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK) and San Francisco (SFO) and Miami (MIA) and Los Angeles (LAX). Those departing after 9:45 a.m. will receive a choice between Biscoff cookies and pretzels, with seasonal changes. In addition, beginning in May, passengers flying from any destination in Hawai’i to Dallas (DFW) will receive a complimentary meal.
“We want customers to choose American every time they fly. We are giving our customers more choices to enhance their personal flying experience by offering new service and new entertainment options in all cabins,” said Fernand Fernandez, vice president, global marketing, American Airlines.
Likewise, United Airlines passengers will receive Stroopwafels, a Dutch-made, caramel-filled wafer, on flights departing before 9:45 a.m., and a choice between two snack mixes on flights departing after 9:45 a.m. The complimentary snacks will be available on all flights within North America, to and from Central America and between Honolulu and Guam. Later in the year, United expects to serve illycaffe scuro dark roast coffee on all flights.
“For the customer heading home from a business trip and for the family embarking on a long-planned vacation, we are building a new in-flight experience of comfort and familiarity, with complimentary snacks playing a small but important part,” said Jimmy Samartzis, vice president of food services and United Clubs, United Airlines.

Sep 17, 2026High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture
It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
