Last weekend I visited not one but two pumpkin patches as well as the annual Mandarin Craft Festival in Jacksonville, Florida. This was my first time visiting the festival, and I went with my friend to walk the more than 100 stalls selling handmade items.

In the early 1900s, filmmakers felt Skokie, a suburb just north of Chicago, resembled an old prairie town and made it a popular choice for shooting westerns. The Niles Center (now Skokie Theatre) showed movies shot just feet away. About a century later, in 2007, Skokie's Backlot Bash debuted, paying homage to the village's roots.

For the first time since 2019, the Skokie Festival of Cultures made a full return. After missing 2020 and holding mini-events in 2021, the annual event was greeted with huge crowds this weekend.
