The Puente Romano Beach Resort on Spain’s Costa del Sol is the location of a new Six Senses Spa, scheduled to open this summer. Throughout, architecture inspired by the Andalusian coast helps create a sense of place with whitewashed walls, natural stone, arched doorways, vaulted ceilings and colorful hand-painted tiles. A main feature is the expansive wet area, where a hydrotherapy pool, cold plunge, heat and ice experience showers are complemented by adjustable water flow and mood lighting, plus an herbal steam room, sauna and hammam.

Other wow factors include arched ceilings and tall columns that evoke Moorish heritage. Relaxation areas offer views of the Mediterranean, while options for treatment space include cabanas overlooking the sea. The spa’s signature Six Senses massages will feature rich creams and soothing potions from QMS Medicosmetics and The Organic Pharmacy, plus treatments with local ingredients such as indigenous herbs, sea salt, olive oil and sea minerals. A series of integrated wellness retreats and yoga programs is in the works.
