Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide recently announced two new Aloft properties in Mexico. Slated to debut in Veracruz and Queretaro, they join Aloft Cancun and Aloft Guadalajara as the country’s third and fourth Aloft-branded hotels. The brand is Starwood’s most popular in Latin America. “Aloft burst onto the scene in the region in 2011, and we are on schedule to more than double our footprint by 2019, making it one of the most successful brands in Starwood’s history in the region,” said Victor Vazquez, vice president of Latin American development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. Aloft Veracruz will open by late 2017 in the popular Veracruz-Boca del Rio neighborhood, with close access to the Veracruz Convention Center, as well as shopping. The property will offer 165 loft-styled guestrooms. The brand’s signature amenities, such as complimentary WiFi and a full calendar of musical performances, will cater to business and leisure travelers alike visiting Mexico’s main commercial seaport. Aloft Queretaro is scheduled to open its doors in 2018. A fast-growing destination in the country, Queretaro’s industrial corridor in the northern region of the city is home to the new hotel. In addition to the same stylish amenities offered at Aloft Veracruz, guests at both hotels will enjoy SPG Keyless, for mobile, keyless entry. “Queretaro is known as one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico, and we are proud to introduce the first Aloft Hotel in the city. We are working with one of the best architecture firms in Mexico to design the hotel, which will allow our guests to feel at home, even when they travel for business with spacious areas for relaxing, such as the WXYZ bar, the patio or the pool,” said Rodrigo Soto, general manager, Inmobiliaria ARAT SA de CV.

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
