Sonesta International Hotels Corporation added 102 properties to its global portfolio, reflagging 103 InterContinental Hotels Group hotels to Sonesta branding and management. As of Dec. 1, 99 hotels were reflagged; three more in Canada and Puerto Rico change over this month. The 99 properties now operate under Royal Sonesta, Sonesta and Sonesta ES Suites brands.

Additionally, Sonesta debuted Sonesta Simply Suites, an extended-stay hotel concept with 61 locations to start. This will mark one of the largest U.S. hotel brand launches in history. As a more-focused extended-stay option, Sonesta Simply Suites build on the offerings of its existing brands.

With the expansion, Sonesta will have a new presence in the following North American cities: Dallas; Denver; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Milwaukee; Portland, Oregon; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Seattle; Toronto, Canada; and Washington, D.C. It also expands its presence in a number of U.S. cities and states: In Atlanta, seven new hotels bring the Sonesta total to 12, with the same in Chicago. In Detroit, Sonesta added four new hotels for a total of six. The state of Florida saw six new Sonesta properties, bringing the grand total to nine statewide. Four Sonesta Simply Suites launched in Houston, for a total of seven Sonesta hotels in the city and 19 overall in Texas.

Sonesta’s portfolio is growing by nearly 350 percent, with almost 300 hotels across seven brands in the United States, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Peru and St. Maarten.

Have you stayed at a Sonesta property? With its new additions, are you more likely to stay at a Sonesta brand? What is your favorite extended-stay brand? Tell us about it. Email us at [email protected]. Please include your full name and location.
