Small Luxury Hotels of the World added three new properties to its portfolio last month.

The first Martinique SLH property, French Coco is a newly built, all-suite hotel that just opened last month. The hotel is situated on the island’s northeast coast. The 17 suites décor features all-natural materials and a color palette based on the outdoor environment. The Suite Creole and Suite Caribes both offer private pools and seating areas. The hotel’s restaurant prepares French Caribbean cuisine using ingredients grown on site.

In Laos, The President by Akaryn opens in October. The boutique property was originally built by the Chinese government as a gift to the city’s residents and is situated between the Parliament House and Presidential Palace. The architecture is inspired by French Neoclassical influences. With 32 guestrooms and suites featuring high ceilings and marble flooring, you’ll never want to leave your private oasis. However, beyond the guestrooms lie perfectly manicured English gardens, a luxurious Ayurah Wellness spa and four dining outlets.

Hotel Único is not only a converted 19th-century palace, but also a culinary destination in the city of Madrid. The 44 Art Deco guestrooms and suites boast marble mosaics, high ceilings and more. Ramón Freixa is the property’s two-star Michelin restaurant.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
