The season is underway for Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and tickets are already scarce. Choreographer Peter Quanz’s Q Dance series has proven so popular that two extra performances have been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Gas Station Arts Centre on River Avenue. Quanz’s collection of short works is in its fifth incarnation, and the special performances will include Double Bounce, a major hit since it took stage at Lincoln Center last year.
An Ontario native, the award-winning Quanz founded Q Dance in 2010 as a platform to collaborate with other artists from a variety of disciplines. His career includes internationally commissioned works for the American Ballet Theatre, Hong Kong Ballet, National Ballet of Canada and the Mariinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia. He also created In Tandem for the Guggenheim Museum’s series Works & Process.
