The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore and its signature restaurant, Summer Pavilion, received a Michelin star with the debut of the first Singapore Michelin Guide. It is the only Chinese restaurant within a hotel recognized. “I am thrilled that Summer Pavilion has garnered a one-star rating from the world-renowned Michelin Guide, an achievement that demonstrates our commitment to culinary excellence in a city that is well known as a gourmand’s paradise,” said Peter Mainguy, general manager, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore. The restaurant’s executive chef Cheung Siu Kong joined the restaurant in 2003, moving to his current role in 2014. “My cooking philosophy is simple,” said Chef Cheung. “I believe that the key to creating authentic Cantonese dishes is through modest cooking techniques which bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients. Having been in the industry for more than 25 years, my passion is fueled whenever I see the smiles on the faces of guests after they taste my creations.” Guests can now enjoy a special celebratory menu highlighting the chef’s signature dishes, including barbecue Iberico pork, South African abalone, sea whelk soup and Japanese wagyu beef. Summer Pavilion underwent renovations late last year and now offers six private dining rooms.
