ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Tucked away on a side street, adorned with greenery arched over the entrance, The London West Hollywood’s rather understated and English-style entrance is a modest and humble introduction to the amenities within. A sleek marble lobby with warm lighting and curved couches (as well as attentive staff ) greets guests. A doorman assisted me with my luggage. Toward the back of the lobby lay the elevators to the suites. Check-in was seamless and fast, the layout of the hotel easy to navigate for a first-timer to the property.
GUEST QUARTERS: I enjoyed two nights in the Vista Suite, a uniquely laid-out space where it seemed every piece of furniture focused on the star of the suite: the views from the balcony. In addition to a plush king-sized bed, the suite came with its own dressing and vanity area behind the headboard, which faces the door. A large marble desk, personal wet bar, flat-screen TV, Illy coffee machine, table with chairs, and bathroom with a deep-soaking marble tub and separate shower made for a relaxing stay that could have easily left me spending my whole day within the suite.
The tub was one of the deepest I had been in, a nice feature I took advantage of. But I spent the most time on my own balcony, overlooking the Hollywood Hills and the Los Angeles skyline.
Particularly around sunset, I soaked up the orange and pink sky against the dark and billboard-covered hills. Even when I was not on the balcony, I kept the curtains pulled back from the floor-to-ceiling windows to appreciate every second of this sight.
SERVICES/AMENITIES: The London West Hollywood provides all guests with a complimentary breakfast menu in Boxwood Restaurant, one of its dining venues. I enjoyed yogurt parfait, coffee, pastries, fruit and some eggs. In essence, you don’t even need to order from the separate breakfast menu, but if something from the regular menu piques your interest, you can find an array of both decadent and savory dishes. While I was not at the hotel long enough to enjoy its other amenities or dinner at Boxwood Restaurant, the hotel does have a rooftop pool, which I overheard more than one guest rave about. Food and bar service is available at the pool, but guests can also find light bites, tacos and craft cocktails (often highlighting gin) at the London Bar.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
- Private balconies with unbeatable views of Hollywood Hills and L.A. skyline
- Extra-deep soaking tubs for an extra-indulgent soak
- Hard-to-beat location in the heart of Beverly Hills
