ON THE GROUND: As part of my recent trip to Morocco, I had the opportunity to experience Royal Air Maroc’s business-class service flying from New York ( JFK) to Casablanca (CMN). Traveling to Morocco is a bucket-list experience for many, and Royal Air Maroc provides a direct and comfortable option to make the journey seamless.
Check-in at JFK was quick and efficient. Business-class passengers have a dedicated line, and my baggage was tagged priority, which helped immensely upon arrival. The friendly staff at the desk ensured I had all the necessary documentation for travel to Morocco. Before boarding I accessed the Primeclass Lounge, available to Royal Air Maroc business-class travelers. Although the lounge was on the smaller side compared to some international hubs, it provided a quiet space to relax, a modest buffet with snacks and light meals, and a full-service bar. After a short wait, boarding began, and business-class passengers were called early, allowing for easy and organized entry into the aircraft.
PRE-FLIGHT: Royal Air Maroc’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner offers a 1-2-1 seating configuration in business class, providing all passengers direct aisle access — a key amenity for long-haul comfort. My seat was spacious, featuring a large pillow, blanket and amenity kit already placed before boarding. The crew welcomed passengers warmly, offering pre-departure beverages including traditional Moroccan mint tea, a unique and memorable touch.
The amenity kit included high-end products such as skin care essentials, socks and an eye mask — everything needed to ensure a restful flight. The in-flight entertainment system offered a good selection of films, TV shows and Moroccan music, all accessible from a large personal screen.
The crew distributed menus before takeoff, offering a preview of the evening’s multicourse dining experience. I appreciated the blend of traditional Moroccan cuisine with international options, catering to a wide variety of tastes.
IN-FLIGHT: Shortly after takeoff, dinner service began. I opted for the tomato soup and salmon, which were both lovely. Appetizers included a fresh salad and Moroccan mezze, followed by a cheese course and a selection of desserts. Meals were served with a choice of Moroccan beer and wines and coffee or tea. After dinner, the seat converted smoothly into a fully lie-flat bed. Bedding was comfortable, and the quiet environment of the cabin made it easy to sleep for several hours, crucial for adjusting to the time difference in Morocco.
Served about 90 minutes before landing, breakfast featured a variety of light options including fruit, yogurt and pastries. The flight landed on time in Casablanca, and priority baggage handling ensured a swift and smooth exit from the airport.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
- The traditional Moroccan hospitality was evident throughout the flight, from the mint tea welcome to Moroccan menu offerings.
- The lie-flat seats, priority boarding and quiet cabin made for a restful overnight journey.
- The personalized service and thoughtful amenities create a memorable experience, perfectly setting the tone for an unforgettable trip to Morocco.
