ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: In East London looms a 43-story tower. It became our beacon as we navigated the streets from Liverpool Street Station until we rounded the corner and found Pan Pacific London. The lobby is naturally lit and spacious, extending toward the back where an afternoon tea and cocktail lounge await. We were treated to some cold water before venturing up to our room.
GUEST QUARTERS: We stayed the night in one of the hotel’s executive rooms, a spacious room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city, natural woodwork, and neutral colors with pops of bold blues and purples. The comfortable king-sized bed faced these expansive windows, which framed a large, flat-screen television on the back wall. One of my favorite parts of the room was the desk, which operated as both a work space and vanity with a section that unfolded to unveil a lighted mirror and Dyson hair dryer. The white-marble bathroom was divided by a thick wall to separate the sink from the shower and soaking tub. The hallway to the room also featured a chair and luggage stand as well as a station for a Nespresso machine.
SERVICES/AMENITIES: Just behind the lobby sits Ginger Lily Bar & Lounge where we indulged in a splendid afternoon tea
experience that began with a flute of Champagne before transitioning to selections like mint and pickled cucumber sandwiches, a matcha and strawberry vanilla opera, mango mousse and a vast range of exquisite teas. Pan Pacific London is also home to Straits Kitchen & Bar, serving Western and Southeast Asian dishes. For a relaxing treatment, the hotel’s SENSORY Spa & Wellbeing (which is also home to a Champagne-inspired infinity pool and gym) promises massages and experiences inspired by Southeast Asian traditions.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
- Opt for a city-view room for some of the best panoramic sights of London.
- Bathroom amenities are from Jo Loves (from the perfumer Jo Malone), and underfloor heating and plush robes and slippers make for your own spa experience in your own bathroom.
- Sip on flavorful Asian and Indian teas at Ginger Lily Bar & Lounge.
