ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: The hotel was designed to blend into the New York City landscape, specifically the Chelsea Flower District on which the property sits. The iconic neon purple Moxy sign, however, beckoned to me, where I was first met with an airy atrium paying homage to the hotel’s location with vibrant plastic flowers adorning a vintage-looking floral stand. It offered the perfect photo opportunity, and I was told the installation changes regularly. While the lobby is more of a small room with check-in desks, it’s seamless, efficient and easy to navigate. The check-in desks alone are unique, hanging by dark pipes from the ceiling, swaying ever so slightly.
GUEST QUARTERS: At the core of Moxy is the mastery of limited space. It’s New York City, after all, and for a 4-star hotel, this property maximized every inch of space with creative and savvy furnishings and décor. My 20th-floor king room was bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows boasting skyline views (which I stood and stared at, especially around sunset). A long row of pegs with hangers on the opposite wall allowed for hanging clothes, while a desk folded out from the same wall by the window, accompanied by a small but comfy chair. Two sleek nightstands and lamps sat on either side of the very soft bed. A large TV was positioned across from the bed, perfect for when I needed to glimpse parts of the FSU vs. Alabama game (Go, Noles!). The sink was also part of the bedroom, separate from the shower and bathroom, with industrial-like faucets I found amusing to turn as if I was starting up a machine. The private bathroom included a toilet and a rainfall shower enclosed in glass.
SERVICES/AMENITIES: The hotel’s most iconic space is arguably its rooftop, the Fleur Room. Accessible via a separate entry on the street, this gorgeous venue boasts some of the best views in the city. Earthy green walls are draped with deep red curtains, and plush seats with candlelit tables await visitors wishing to sip craft cocktails (the Lilac Jane and Beso del Diablo are must-tries) and snack on bites such as prime beef sliders and truffle fries. Don’t miss the quirky and massive disco ball glittering in one of the rooms. Reservations are highly recommended as this space is very popular with New Yorkers. The hotel also features a gym, second-floor bar that also draws guests for its remote work-friendly seats and tables, small-group meeting rooms, and ground-floor café.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
- Get yourself up to the Fleur Room for the golden hour of a lifetime.
- Innovative use of space in a packed city with carefully selected furniture
- Location, location, location. Where else can you exit a hotel and walk right along a Manhattan street teeming with daily fresh flowers and other plants?

On one side, waves breathe in and out across wide stretches of sand or explode against jagged rocks, sending spray shooting into the air. On the other side, the scenery changes: Cliffs rise like walls, vineyards clip past in neat rows, pine trees line the road. Between these, cities give way to small communities with art galleries, local restaurants and shops selling beachwear.
