ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: When working with a travel magazine, business in Miami plays a key role in your success. Publisher and CEO Francis X. Gallagher and I were in town to meet with several major clients, looking to assist them with upcoming promotional opportunities in 2025. We arrived by car, driving from the FXExpress offices in Sarasota to Hyatt Regency Coral Gables, in time for several meetings. Check-in was a swift and easy process. I was delighted to hear my king-sized room had a balcony on the pool deck and secretly wished there’d be more time to enjoy myself. Once I received my room key, I was on my way.
GUEST QUARTERS: I always appreciate a room with extra space, and this one certainly fit the bill. The suite opened to a large living area with a couch, side chair and coffee table. The king-sized bed sat opposite the seating area and featured a clean, minimalistic style. The brightly lit bathroom featured a vanity in the middle, sliding-glass-door shower on the left and water closet on the right. An oversized oval mirror hung above a small bench opposite the closet, making it simple and easy to prepare for my business meetings each morning.
Located on the fifth floor, my room opened to the pool deck with a small table and chairs, feeling like a terrace balcony. The view was spectacular, and I noticed very little outside noise penetrating into the room. Perhaps it was my desire to stay longer, but the pool area reminded me of a private resort with exclusive access only to be enjoyed by those who know it exists. When I arrived, the staff kindly treated me to a small charcuterie board of meats, cheese, fruit, crackers and honey. I’m always surprised by how a simple gesture can bring such a large smile to my face.
SERVICES/AMENITIES: Though we didn’t have time to enjoy a meal at Two Sisters Restaurant, we were able to grab a brief drink at Bar 50 and chat with the friendly bartender about other Hyatt resorts in Florida. Orchids adorned several high-top tables in the lounge, which offered a variety of spaces to work or relax. During my time, I noticed several business meetings taking place in different areas of the hotel. Underground parking is also available right next to the hotel for ease of transfer.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
- Easy walking distance to Giralda Plaza for chic restaurants and coffee shops, as well as Miracle Mile for shopping
- The private pool area is a beautiful oasis and ideal for stay-cations or quick getaways.
- Significant event space can accommodate 20–300 guests and ranges from modern boardrooms to the Court of Lions outdoor reception area.
