Whether taking a COVID-19 test before boarding a flight or looking up different travel restrictions before planning your trip, travel has looked a little bit different this past year. With all the extra steps for traveling, American Airlines is committed to finding ways to provide ease and more flexibility and choices for passengers when traveling.
American Airlines AAdvantage members can now redeem miles to order an at-home COVID-19 test kit through LetsGetChecked, one of American’s testing partners. The program covers nine countries and any U.S. city, state or territory that has travel restrictions.
LetsGetChecked is a direct-to-consumer, at-home health testing and insights company. The test offers passengers an FDA EUA-authorized coronavirus at-home testing solution. The kit includes a nasal swab and PCR lab analysis. This gives travelers a convenient and secure way to receive test results in about 48 hours upon receipt in the lab.
The partnership between American Airlines and LetsGetChecked started in September 2020, as an effort to protect the customers’ health and safety and with hopes to inspire confidence in travel.
When ordering an at-home testing kit, travelers redeem 12,000 miles. Members looking to request a testing kit can call AAdvantage Customer Service at 800 882 8880. In order to receive the kits in time for your trip, request them at least 10 business days before departure.

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
