Canada’s gorgeous eastern province of Quebec has plenty to offer in the way of year-round outdoor adventures, thanks to a broad range of parks and designated wildlife areas. At Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier, visitors can canoe, mini-raft, hike, mountain bike, set off on a moose-watching expedition or go trout fishing on the Jacques-Cartier River. Known for its stunning suspension bridge above a waterfall higher than Niagara Falls, Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is idea for seasonal hiking or ice climbing the frozen falls in winter. Located very close to Quebec City, the area includes loads of groomed hiking trails, a set of cliff-side stairs and a cable car for viewing the sites from above. Love wildlife? Pack your binoculars and head to Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area, home to more than 300 bird species including an annual influx of snow geese in spring and fall. Filling a space between the St. Lawrence River tidal marshes and peaked mountains, the area also boasts 12 miles of hiking trails. Other wildlife reserves include 484 square miles of wilderness in Réserve Faunique de Portneuf, the location of Marmite Falls; and Réserve Faunique des Laurentides, home to two rivers and populations of bears. Unpack and stay for a while in a rustic cabin or yurt deep in the Vallée Bras-du-Nord, where you can hike 62 miles of well-maintained forest and mountain paths, or enjoy mountain biking, canyoning, canoeing, horseback riding, kayaking and seasonal snowshoeing
