Thinking about a Hawaiian interlude this November? There’s great reason to go, thanks to the 55th Annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, held on Hawai‘i Island. The state’s oldest food festival, this 10-day tropical caffeine immersion includes tours of Kona coffee farms, tastings, artisan markets and cultural events, rounded out with plenty of live entertainment and beloved traditions built around Kona coffee competitions.

“The Kona Coffee Cultural Festival is a reflection of our community’s values, resilience, and deep respect for the land and tradition,” said Val Corcoran, president, Kona Coffee Cultural Festival. “It is a chance for people to connect meaningfully with the history of Kona coffee, to experience culture firsthand, including Hawaiian, and to honor the legacy of those who have come before us.”

Some of this year’s events include the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Lantern Parade Nov. 6, illuminating Alii Drive in a trail of music, light and color. The next day, visitors can enjoy exploring the art district during Holualoa Village Coffee & Art Stroll. Along with visits to the area’s collection of art galleries, more than 30 Kona coffee farms will offer tastings and coffee purchases.

Daily guided tours to Kona coffee farms will also be available, allowing participants an opportunity to learn about the process of making coffee, from growing beans to the final cup pour. Farmers will be available to discuss sustainability practices and initiatives and to offer freshly brewed coffee samples.

On Nov. 8, The KTA Super Stores Kona Coffee Recipe Contest will kick off, with dishes featuring Kona coffee. On Nov. 14, the day-long Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Ho‘olaule‘a will take place. This gathering of artisans, local musicians, Kona coffee farmers and cultural practitioners will celebrate a selection of Kona’s rich ethnic traditions. During the Grand Finale, interactive food stations and live music will feature among the Taste of Kona culinary experiences.

The Festival Admission Button, good for entry into events for all 10 days, will be available in early fall. These collectible buttons, featuring the festival’s official signature artwork by artist Chalet Moleni, will be available for purchase at a variety of retail outlets and farms throughout the Kona area.
