Terminal B at Philadelphia International Airport will receive a facelift to the tune of $30 million. The terminal is operated by American Airlines, who, along with help from MarketPlace Philadelphia, will bring fresh changes for passengers over the next 24 months. The most anticipated changes include the addition of thousands of iPads to streamline customer experience, as well as exciting dining options from locally-based chefs through restaurants, a large food hall and gourmet shops. “American is proud to offer our customers a taste of local flavors and the convenience of high-tech amenities at our PHL hub. The transformation of Terminal B is the latest in our more than $3 billion investment in improving the travel experience for our customers,” said Cedric Rockamore, vice president, PHL hub operations, American Airlines. New dining options will appeal to all tastes and budgets. Chefs from Philadelphia favorites such as Laurel, The Fat Ham, Percy Street Barbecue, The Whip Tavern, Le Virtu, Tria and Nomad Pizza will bring differing culinary styles and backgrounds to the eight planned restaurants. Innovative interior designs for the entire terminal are scheduled over the next 18–24 months and take full advantage of the latest travel technology. Passengers will have the option to order food, drinks and amenities via iPads, delivered right to 15 gate lounges. The iPads will also allow guests to track flights, browse online and enjoy entertainment options. The terminal’s new design will additionally include more than 1,000 power ports for easy charging. “We want the traveling experience at PHL to reflect the vitality and innovation of our great city and we are very pleased to be expanding these options for our passengers. We are proud to be one of American’s hubs and our partnership will be enhanced and deepened by this redesign of Terminal B,” said Chellie Cameron, CEO, PHL.
