The Pacific Asia Travel Association and TripAdvisor are looking for emerging travel destinations to participate in their PATA CEO Challenge 2016. The winner will receive a $500,000 marketing campaign targeting global audiences. The contest is in its second year and celebrates lesser-known destinations deserving of higher tourist recognition.
“As the world’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor and its community inspire people to travel and discover new places,” said Sarah Mathews, head of destination marketing, Asia Pacific, TripAdvisor. “This challenge reinforces our commitment to supporting and shining light on destinations to enable traveler discovery, and we are pleased to team up with PATA to run it.”
The contest is open to all regions currently receiving fewer than 100,000 international visitors per year. There will be two awards, one for a state, region, province or country, and one for a second- or third-tier city.
