When planning a summer getaway, Southern U.S. destinations are travelers’ best bet. New data from a TNS survey published by TripAdvisor reveals the best worldwide destinations for three-night stays in 4-star hotels, visits to nine local attractions, two Uber rides per day and dining. “A three-day trip to the region costs about $1,250 on average, which is almost $600 less than a three-day trip to the Western cities evaluated in the study,” said Brooke Ferencsik, senior director of communications, TripAdvisor. New Orleans took the top spot as most value-friendly destination, with Houston, Las Vegas, Atlanta and Dallas rounding out the upper tier. Other favorites for travelers’ dollars include Miami, Philadelphia and San Diego. The least value-friendly destination reported was Orlando, followed by Honolulu, Seattle, Boston and New York City. According to the survey, travelers meeting the study criteria spend about $2,217 total on a three-day stint in Orlando. A separate corresponding study included international destinations. Southeast Asia showed promise as a top region to make your money go further. In many cases, Southeast Asian destinations were more price-savvy than the Southern U.S. destinations, including New Orleans. The most value-friendly international destination is Hanoi, Vietnam. Following are Mumbai, Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. Travelers looking for value-conscious destinations in Europe should look for trips to Madrid, Berlin and Vienna. The least budget-friendly international destination is Tokyo, trailed by London, Cancún and Paris.
