For the first time in nearly three years, historic tall ship Mayflower II took to the waves of the Mystic River in Massachusetts.

Mayflower II is a replica of the 17th-century sailing ship. The original ship passed into the lore of American history as the vessel that transported many pilgrims to Plymouth Rock.

Plimouth Plantation, the Mystic Seaport Museum and their respective restoration crews were present for the ceremony that sent the ship into the water.

This ship will spend the winter at Mystic Seaport Museum preparing for a May 2020 departure. The ship will then make its debut in Boston for a maritime festival. before making its way toward Plymouth, Massachusetts, for a joyous homecoming on May 21.
