Marriott opens two new Moxy Hotels in Japan this month — Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho and Moxy Osaka Honmachi.

Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho is located near popular tourist attractions and offers the brand’s signature industrial-chic vibe. It provides 205 guestrooms.

“Today’s consumer is less desirous of a cookie cutter experience and, in fact, wants to discover something new, take in the city, the food, the local scene, whether he/she is there for a day or a week,” said Hisashi Oinuma, captain, Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho.

Moxy Osaka Honmachi provides easy access to transportation, dining, nightlife and shopping, with 155 guestrooms.

“Moxy is specifically designed for this new generation of travelers — we call them Fun Hunters — who are looking for a hotel environment that allows them to have an experience on their terms,” said Shigeki Nakagawa, captain, Moxy Osaka Honmachi. “They want a hotel that is wired to their specific needs, a place to stay that is affordable, fun and awesome.”

Both properties offer the key amenities Moxy is known for, including keyless entry, mobile check-in, welcome cocktails, large social areas (with game tables) and elevators doubling as selfie booths. Social events are planned for upcoming months, such as jam sessions, tarot card readings, film screenings, beer pong competitions and more. Guestrooms provide free WiFi, walk-in rain showers and minimalistic work stations.

Special to the Asian Moxy hotels is the “pimp your noodles” offering, with a selection of instant noodles and a condiment station.

“We threw out the rule book for conventional hotel models to create Moxy’s Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho and Moxy Osaka Honmachi,” says Mike Fulkerson, vice president, brand and marketing, Marriott International. “These two new brand additions will continue to show the world what ‘moxie’ really means and encourage our guests to play on.”
