A new, 13-day active adventure follows the route of famed Scottish explorer David Livingstone through Zambia’s spectacular landscape. The Zambezi Walking Safari by INCA (California-based International Nature and Culture Adventures) — partnering with Norman Carr Safaris — will be offered from May to November of 2016, with plenty of opportunities to view elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, hippos, cape buffalo and more than 732 species of birds. Setting off from Africa’s colossal Victoria Falls, the tour continues into the 1,580-square-mile Lower Zambezi National Park, then on to the 3,500-square-mile South Luangwa National Park at the end of the Great Rift Valley.

Known as the Valley of the Elephants, the South Luangwa is the location of Chinzombo Camp, comprised of six luxury villas shaded by ancient msikzi trees, with a spa and yoga area. Other lodging during the tour includes the elegant, tented Mchenja Bush Camp, set within a grove of ebony trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. Prices begin at $8,995 per person, based on double occupancy. The tour includes all luxury accommodations, all meals and beverages, internal flights in Zambia, all guides, activities, tours, park fees and sightseeing arrangements described in the itinerary. International flights, visas, tips, airport taxes and fees, and excess baggage fees are not included.
