Bangkok’s Amari Watergate offers a new special for boxing enthusiasts, or for those looking to learn more about the art of Muay Thai, or Thai kickboxing. The combat art, in existence since the 16th century, incorporates dance techniques, posture and defense tactics and skills to increase awareness. The national sport, now a global phenomenon, was designed to teach participants how to use their body as a weapon; today, however, locals and visitors use it as a popular type of workout.
Amari Watergate’s Muay Thai offer includes a three-night stay and daily, 90-minute sessions at a renowned Muay Thai training camp. Guests receive front-row seats to watch a match at a Bangkok boxing stadium. Also offered are round-trip transfers between the hotel and the boxing school, a certification upon completion and a consultation with the hotel’s executive chef on healthy eating while traveling.
Nightly rates begin around $700 for single deluxe accommodations and around $530 for double occupancy. The Muay Thai special is available through Dec. 31, 2016.
