From March 18–July 25, the Jacquemart-Andre Museum presents Open-Air-Studio: Impressionists in Normandy, featuring more than 50 notable works from private collections and celebrated American and European museums. The focus on Impressionism includes the popularity of Normandy as a destination for the burgeoning plein-air movement of outdoor art during which British landscape artists Turner, Cotman and Bonington helped define a new school of landscape painting.

Normandy’s Haras-du-Pin became the subject matter for the first horse racing paintings of Degas, and artistic giants including Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Sisley, Boudin and Gauguin soon followed. The exhibition also explores the artistic exchanges between French and British landscapists, and how the light of this distinctive French region became a powerful component of the Impressionist movement. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
